Today I did rat sitting. One of the rats name is Gracie. The other rat does not have a name yet so we call her baby. They climbed all over me and sometimes, they ride around in your jersey hood. Their little pink claws scrabble all over you and prick you like tiny pins. Their noses sniff you and their long whiskers tickle when they touch your skin. Gracie likes to cuddle into the crook of my elbow. I used to hate the feel of their warm little bodies squirming around. Now, I don't mind at all. Their long tails are like hairy pink worms. I love the rats.

Zoe, this is a really descriptive piece of writing and I'm pleased you have come to know them better. You have persevered to get to know them and now you are coping quite comfortably. You might like to read the free verse on Room 6's blog and write about the rats in a different style.

A two minute piece of writing I enjoyed so much. I'm glad you are enjoying the rats - you know when we first got Cream and Peaches I felt like you - now I think rats are great pets - they are so interactive.
