Cause of Cholera disease discovered

The disease Cholera has been affecting London killing hundreds of people for at least a fortnight. Now Doctor John Snow, a pioneer of disease and father of epidemiology, has his theory of how the city's water has caused of all this sickness and death.
"I have been working day and night to find the cause of this disease," Doctor Snow explains. "I have the locations of the victims' homes and discovered that the closest pump to nearly all of them is the Broad Street pump. The victim's families also explained to me that they used that water pump in particular."
Reverend Henry Whitehead has also been investigating this case and is willing to share his story.

"At first I thought the epidemic was caused by divine intervention," Whitehead explains, "but that was before I heard about the baby with diarrhoea. I went to investigate and discovered that the baby lived on 40 Broad Street. The cesspool at the front of the house was 3 feet away from the pump. I asked for the ground to be dug up and a crack was found that allowed the contents of the cesspool to enter the well contaminating the water. The whole thing was unnecessary. If London's drainage and sewer systems had been made better this would never have happened."

A cute furry creature - Natalia

A small pink nose and quivering whiskers, buggish eyes black as onyx. Thin ears on a small pointed head, a warm body on legs, with scurrying feet. Covered all over with fur, except, for their long snakscale tail. Their tail's all hairy, pink and p r i c k l y, watch those rats, they move soooo quickly!

Reflection 30.07.13 - Natalia

Today our class watched a bit of how to train your dragon to learn more about the COPE attitudes (Curiosity, Open-minded, Persevering, and Empathy). I thought that the movie was really cool but Mrs McA kept on pausing it and asking us about what was happening, what COPE attitude someone is using and why. I rate the experience 6/10.

Five things you should know about me - Natalia

Tuesday 26 February 2013 Five things you should know about me and why 1. I ABSOLUTLY LOVE drawing and making other artwork but I put in a lot of detail. I take my time to finish my art and I need to work on that. 2. My strength is reading. I like to read as much straight. If I ever want to I can read a good book that is about 10cm thick easily if I am given 1 week – 30 days. 3. I like to go outside, play sports and be active. I am telling you these things because I am good at them, I like doing them and I really like playing castle. 4. I sometimes get distracted easily. This is one of the reasons I don’t get my work finished on time. 5. My wish/goal for this year is to qualify to go to the New Plymouth cross country.

Me unicycling! By Natalia

Me and my unicycle!

A unicycle can also be called a unike (pronounced you-nee-k)!

The rats! By Natalia

This year room 11 got 2 new rats. The first one doesn't have a name but most people call her Baby. She was bought because, sadly, Peaches, Creams best friend, passed last year. She has a great personality. She is a bit jumpy and a bit scared but is friendly and doesn't bite like Cream. Baby is a light grey. Cream is sick, very sick. Too sick to be in the same cage as Baby, so we bought the second rat, Grace. Grace also has an amazing personality. She is shy and gets scared a lot by sudden sounds, but she is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo friendly. She is a well behaved rat and once you get to know her and she gets to know you, you will be great friends!

This is baby...

And this is Grace.
