My feelings about cross country

Q. Do you have any comments about Frankley School cross country?
A.   I do not enjoy it at all and the thought of it makes me squirm. I feel that because I feel like it’s a torture program set up by evil people. I hate cross country. I feel like I don't fit in when it comes to this because when everybody else is cheering and training, I am groaning and trying to banish thoughts of this dreaded event from my mind. I wish that I didn't have to go to cross country and in a perfect world (for me) I would not get told to run across a sheep poo littered field at the back of the group until I taste blood in my mouth. I despise cross country from the bottom of my heart and wish it was just for the people who like it. I am sorry to say that I have been brought up in a family that does not feel like the rest of NZ: Sport crazy. I continue to fail to see the point in kicking/throwing a ball around a muddy field. I understand that some (most) people like this kind of thing but I don't. So to sum it all up: Cross country makes me hate running even more.

  2. I expect some people as strongly as this about acting on the stage!!! Luckily we all have our different strengths!!! I set a goal once to complete a half marathon running.....I trained and trained (well a little bit of training) and waited until the moment that I had been told would happen, when I would suddenly realise that running was amazing!! That moment never came for me. I have run in many school cross countries and have never been amazing but have completed the task. You still have some future runs ahead of you...whether they are literally runs or something else that is not your preferred thing? Perhaps there might be a need for water station attendants or timekeepers - always an option??!!!

    1. Thankyou for reading my writing! I simply feel that cross country should be optional but there could still be another thing for people who don't like running. Please answer with your ideas! :)
