How tigers got stripes

Long ago Lula, the tiger began to feel itchy because she lived in a bug infested jungle. The bugs were biting her while she was sleeping. She woke up and there were all these little holes on her back. They were swollen, itchy bites.

The itchiness made her start rubbing her back against everything. She began to wonder what was happening to her, because she was getting all these black dots on her back. Very slowly, they started to turn into little lines! She got worried. She went to see Dr. Mongoose and he looked very bewildered. “Some of the black lines are smaller than others” Dr. Mongoose told Lula.

She was getting increasingly worried as the black lines grew faster and faster, bigger and bigger, while Dr. Mongoose was explaining about it.

Dr. Mongoose gave Lula some magic potion to stop the stripes before they covered her whole, entire body. After a couple of minutes the stripes stopped. Lula was pleased that they had stopped. It started to happen to all the other tigers. Dr. Mongoose was busy making blue magic potion bottles.  If Dr. Mongoose wasn’t there, every single Tiger would have turned into a black pouncing Panther.

That’s how Tigers got stripes.

Here are some Maths Brain-teasers.  Exercise that brain!!!

1. Grandpa's Age:
Grandpa:
"My grandson is about as many days as my son is weeks and my grandson is as many months as I am years.  My grandson, my son and I together are 100 years.
What is my age in years?

2, The snake in the hole:
The snake slides through a long cylindrical hole in the ground at 5 cm per second.  The hole is 6.05 metres long.  The snake takes 15 seconds to enter.
What is the length in cm of the snake?

3. Monkeys and Bananas:
Suppose it takes 6 monkeys, 6 minutes to eat 6 bananas.
How many minutes does it take 4 monkeys to eat 4 bananas?
How many monkeys would it take to eat 24 bananas in 24 minutes?

Don't think the obvious.  We will go through these at the end of the week. So you have time to think!!!  Happy Brain-teasing.  Of course I got them straight away!!!

Swimming awards By William.

My Swimming Awards.

  On Sunday 4th of April we had the Highlands swim club prize giving. These are My awards.

I got the Elliot Trophy On its 50th Anniversary for the most improved Swimmer. 

 

 



 These are my ribbons and certificate for different events at Club night and Club Champs.

 

My family also won a Cup for the fastest family relay team. It was me, Ben and my sister Emily.

Te Wera Secret Buddy

Frankley Room 11 went to Te Wera for camp. Te Wera is fifty minutes outside Stratford. Room 11 students were given a buddy to watch at camp. This is called a secret buddy.

My buddy enjoyed Archery, he got into the finals and he helped lots of people including myself. My buddy was in the bush when someone stood on a wasp hive and he got four stings. He was really funny and brave even though he got stung once on his nose, once on his finger, once on his foot, and once on his arm.

I really liked that my secret buddy helped lots of people induding myself.

My secret buddy could do better at tidying the cabin and not talking at bed time!  He did very well at camp.

Wellington

Next week we are going to Wellington! Maeghan and I are going to stay with Nikaela and Sharleen! Mum and Dad will stay at a motel! We are going to see the hurricanes play on Saturday night! They are playing the Kings from South African! On Saturday we will have a big walk around Wellington go to Te papa! Have a swim go to movies, McDonalds! Easter Bunny is coming when I’m in Wellington This Sunday!

It will be so fun at Wellington! We can go to the zoo too! Nikaela will cook me tea! I might have too Sleep on the floor! It will take a long time to get to Wellington! I will be a good girl in the car! This Friday we are going to Wellington to see Nikaela! I want to see her home and where she works at subway and the University she goes to! Her house is on a hill! Dad said we might Stop somewhere for lunch! We are going to leave new Plymouth at 9 o'clock! We will have fun with Nikaela! Mum and Dad will take us to Wellington for Breakfast Lunch and tea! We will wake in our bed and we will get changed in our room! It was fun to stay with Nikaela and her Friend!   We will have a great day With a Nikaela! Bella will stay here with     h Lachlan! We miss Bella so Much! Lachlan needs to feed Bella! The weather Should be fine in Wellington this Weekend! We will be able to do Heaps of Things! Nikaela will be able to show us around! Nikaela Works at Subway in Wellington!
